¡Viva TABOR!
Stop Politicians from Eliminating the Taxpayers Bill of Rights (TABOR)
HJR25-1023, seeks to eliminate the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR). Since 1992, TABOR has been a cornerstone of our state’s governance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and a direct voice for the people in decisions about tax increases.
TABOR empowers Coloradans by requiring the government to justify its need for additional tax revenue, fostering trust and open communication between the government and its citizens. Eliminating TABOR would strip away this vital mechanism, silencing the voices of the very people it was designed to protect.
Moreover, TABOR has garnered overwhelming support from Coloradans across diverse communities. Its removal would disproportionately impact Hispanic families and small business owners across the state by eliminating TABOR tax refunds from over-collected revenue.
I urge you to stand with the people of Colorado and oppose HJR25-1023. Protecting TABOR is not just about preserving a policy—it’s about upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and fairness that define our state.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I trust you will make the right decision for the people you represent.
